MADAKARIPURA, in Nagarakertagama, is the land of cultivation which was gifted by the last king of Majapahit Hayam Wuruk to Mahapatih Gajah Mada after the War of Bubat. The exact location has yet to be proven by historians. However, residents around Madakaripura Waterfall, Probolinggo, believe that it was on this land that Gajah Mada last meditated before he died.
Madakaripura Waterfall is located about 30 kilometers south of Probolinggo City. To get there, visitors can drive a four-wheeled or two-wheeled vehicle. Once at the location, the road as far as 3 kilometers can only be passed by two-wheeled vehicles to the ticket post. Arriving at the ticket post, two-wheeled vehicles must also be parked at the storage area. This is because access to the waterfall is only a path.
The distance covered by tracking is about 1.3 kilometers. Passing the river lip which is the flow from Madakaripura Waterfall. Along the way, visitors' eyes will continue to be spoiled by the beautiful stretch of mountains. There are several stop posts that tourists can use to take a short break.
But, take it easy. There is no significant incline on the way to the waterfall, although you have to stay alert. This is because the path is right on the river bank. "The fastest is 15 minutes from the ticket post to the location," said Madakaripura Waterfall Field Coordinator Imam Solichin. About 300 meters before reaching Madakaripura Waterfall, visitors must pass through the canyon.
From there the feeling of fatigue paid off. From the left side of the cliff, gushing water that resembles a curtain welcomes visitors.
